Theatre Classes at YPC

Be bold and find a place to belong! In YPC classes, young artists find a welcoming place to explore performing, discover what excites them, and experience the joy of making theatre together.

Classes are designed for each age group and welcome young artists at every experience level. Through theatre games, scenes, and guided practice, they build skills that help them feel at home in any rehearsal room. With encouragement from teaching artists and peers, students make bold choices, grow their confidence, and find their people.

Explore the overviews below to see what young artists experience in YPC classes.

Class Overviews

Kindergarten-Grade 2

Play leads the way in these classes! A story might become an adventure the whole group helps bring to life as students explore characters through voice, movement, and imagination. They learn that their ideas belong in the room while practicing how to listen, share, and make space for one another.

Grades 3-5

Whether a class focuses on acting, voice, dance, or a combination, students have fun learning foundational skills through games and hands-on practice. At this level, they begin to understand the choices they’re making and put new skills to use. They take creative risks, encourage one another, and discover what they can do as an ensemble!

Grades 6-8

Middle school students are ready to explore not only how to make a choice, but why. Depending on the class, they may work with longer scenes, more text, or more involved voice and dance material. Beginners and returning students alike are encouraged to bring their own perspectives, use feedback to strengthen their work, and support the bold choices of their peers.

Private lessons

Private lessons give young artists individual time with a teaching artist to work toward their own goals. Whether they want to build confidence, develop a particular skill, or prepare for an audition, lessons provide focused instruction and room to practice at their own pace.
