In-Person Classes - Fall 2022

These classes are suitable for students who come to YPC with all levels of theatrical experience. In each class, students will work side by side with Professional Artists to develop their physical and vocal skills, and creatively explore their favorite plays, books, and themes. Students will collaborate with their fellow students in an open and encouraging environment, building deeper understandings of the theatrical process.

Covid19 Safety & Camp FAQ

Our focus is to create a safe environment for students and staff.

  • Drop off and pick up will happen outdoors in our parking lot area.
  • A contactless thermometer will be used to take temperature, as well as a verbal check in.

  • Staff members will not work if they are currently experiencing or have experienced any new symptoms consistent with COVID-19 within the last 72 hours.

  • Students may not attend classes/camps if they or a member of their household are showing any new symptoms consistent with COVID-19 now or within the last 72 hours.

  • All materials used in class will be sanitized ahead of time.

  • Students and staff will be masked during classes and we will have participants wash or sanitize hands between workshops or as we change activities.

  • Curriculum will be structured to allow for distancing.

  • Students staying for lunch will socially distance while eating (outdoors if available).

  • We will follow CDC and MDH guidelines for safety protocols and class sizes, and adjust as recommendations fluctuate.

Camp FAQ

Grade Level: YPC’s classes and camps are designed for the grade your child is enrolled in during the 2020-2021 school year. We understand some students may thrive in a group older or younger than their designated peer group. However, our grade ranges are strict so that teaching artists can tailor their lesson plans and ensure the best possible classroom experience for all participants.

Location: Classes are held at our office/rehearsal space: 641 Fairview Ave. N, St. Paul, MN 55104 Suite 191. We’re located in St. Paul Midway just off I-94 and two blocks north of University Avenue between Prior and Fairview Avenues. Parking and bicycle racks are available in the front of the building.

Attire: Please dress for movement and and wear clean-soled shoes that tie or are held on with elastic (i.e. sneakers or dance shoes; no flip flops or sandals).

Food & Water: Lunch/Snacks are not provided. Please send a water bottle and lunch with your child if applicable.

Refunds: Cancellations at least two weeks before the start of a class will receive a full refund less a $30 processing fee. Cancellations less than two weeks before the first class will not receive a refund.

Class Cancellations: In the event a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, you can choose a full refund or future class credit.

Additional details will be emailed on a rolling basis, prior to the first week of each camp.

Stories with Suess

SaturWe will read classic Dr. Seuss books together and explore the stories through creative play. Students will act out the stories they read to create their own performance inspired by the stories of Dr. Seuss.

Let's Dance: Movement with Mirabel

Disney’s Encanto follows the members of the Madrigal family who each possess a special magical gift. Well, everyone except Mirabel. Play with character and story while you learn choreography to some of your favorite music from the movie.

Actor’s Studio: Improv City

Learn critical onstage skills and perform lots of improv with industry professionals in this high energy class that will keep you on your toes. A must for both the beginner and improv enthusiast!

Bring the world of Harry Potter to life in this magical scene study adventure! Take inspiration from the popular book series as you explore a world of magic and wonder. Who knows what spells you will cast and where you will end up?

Ages 14+

Actor's Studio: Stage Combat

In this class, students learn to tell stories and create dynamic characters through physical movement. Students learn the principles of safe physical interaction on stage by working on choreographed fights for the theatre. Students also develop physical discipline, focus and concentration, timing, and an understanding of the importance of ensemble when working on these techniques.

Actor's Studio: Sketch Comedy

You’ve watched SNL and Key & Peele from your couch; now it’s time to be on the other side of the table! Enter the writing room where you get to feel what it’s like to pitch one idea after another in hopes of one of those ideas being developed into a sketch. This class is perfect for budding comedians, actors, writers, or a combination of all three. Learn how to write and workshop your material. Time to develop your own voice and comic sensibility.
